Why I PMC
I'm a proud participant in PMC Unpaved, a gravel bike ride over the scenic backroads of the Berkshires in western Massachusetts to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and The Jimmy Fund. PMC Unpaved - a spoke in the wheel of the Pan-Mass Challenge's yearly fundraising campaign - is October 4, 2025. 100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to innovative cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber, one of the world's premier cancer centers dedicated to advancing cancer research and care.
As someone who used to work as a spiritual care provider working in healthcare, I had the privilage of doing my clincial training at Brigham and Women's Hospital. On the 6th floor of the Tower building at 75 Francis Street, three of the four units were for Dana Farber Cancer Institute patients. Walking along side those who were receiving treatment and collaborating with the Dana Farber team was eye opening to the amazing work that happens at Dana Farber. Personally, the most meaningful moments were providing Stem Cell blessings to patients alongside their medical team members. These moments of celebration of their second birthday and the birth of their new immune system was joyous and hopeful moment on a what is a long and hard journey. This hope and joy was made possible by the Dana Farber Cancer Institue and patients would regularly tell me how grateful they were to be receiving their care at Dana Farber.
So your donation helps make those moments possible for so many. Cancer treatment, drugs, and interventions are not cheap and unfortunately require funds. So please help me raise money so patients can continue to receive excellent world class care (and maybe a few more Stem Cell blessings along the way). It would mean so much to me personally, as someone who has walked with folks receiving care form Dana Farber, and even closer to home, has family and friends who have been diagnosed with cancer and have had to fight that fight. Thank you for considering to donate, not matter how big or small, it is all greatly appreciated.
Peace,
Mike
